What is a test bank?

A test bank is a collection of exam questions and answers created to accompany a specific textbook or course.

Typically, it is prepared by the textbook’s author(s) or the publisher and is provided to instructors so they can create quizzes, midterms, and final exams without having to write every question themselves.

A test bank often includes:

  • Multiple-choice questions

  • True/false statements

  • Short-answer and essay questions

  • Matching questions

  • Problem-solving or calculation questions (for subjects like math, engineering, or accounting)

  • Answer keys (sometimes with explanations)
